Each notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that communicates with the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, and any applications that are currently installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, every single application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

We provide three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs available and we offer all three instead of just one because we realize that you may want to install some software with specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there're various software programs you could install on the web hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you want to use one and for that reason we offer several Control Panels too. Should you decide that you need to have a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the present one and set up the one that you would like. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

If you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a wider choice with regard to the system environment on the machine as different applications can have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a reliable and safe web hosting service. Depending on your decision, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you've selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software which you would like to run. We can also update your OS regularly to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
